Original title: Canadian School expands with help from Life
Al Taqwa School in London, Ontario is rapidly expanding. The k-12 school now boasts a record 250 students, thanks in part to the support it has received from Life for Relief and Development.
Over the past two years, Life has donated $2.5 million worth of textbooks and other educational supplies to Al Taqwa. The impact of this support has been significant. The school was able to substantially reduce its operating budget, and in turn reduce the cost of tuition.
The reduced tuition has made Al Taqwa more affordable, especially for immigrant and refugee families, whose children make up the majority of the student body.
Even with the lower tuition, there are some in the community who cannot afford private schooling for their children. However, thanks to the generosity of one of Life’s very special donors, several children from working class families now enjoy full or partial scholarships to the school.
Al Taqwa offers a strong academic program with an emphasis on scientific education, religious studies, and character development. According to its website, the school’s top priority is “to develop each child to the fullest potential and achieve the highest standard of which the child is capable.”
