Many great civilizations and countries flourished once and then were destroyed by outside forces or by the complacency or folly of their own people. Canada is not invulnerable. Its fate will be determined not merely by how early Canadians behaved and what they built but also by the attitudes and actions of the present generation. We should grasp the lessons of history and witness the world around us.
