ST. CATHARINES – The Bridge Program of the Employment Help Centre is hosting law and international relations expert Hussein Hamdani on Tuesday, Jan. 19, as part of its speaker series.
The free event, called Highly Skilled Immigration in a Globalized Labour Market, will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Lakeport Secondary School, 535 Lake St., St. Catharines.
Modern stereotypes, modern racism and the current economic crisis will be discussed.
Hamdani will share the story of his immigrant experience, speak about the impact of highly skilled immigration in the current labour marker and answer the question: why does our labour force need immigrants?
Hamdani was raised in St. Catharines and now works as a lawyer in Burlington. He specializes in various areas of law and holds a master of arts degree in international relations from University of Toronto.
Hamdani has been appointed to several boards and executive committees such as the Government of Canada Roundtable on Security, the Provincial Special Investigations Unit and the advisory committee to Hamilton’s police chief.

Seats are limited, so preregistration is recommended no later than Tuesday, Jan. 12.
